PC 157, which stands for Body Protection Compound 157, is a synthetic peptide that consists of 15 amino acids. It was first isolated from human gastric juice and has been studied for its potential regenerative and healing properties. Research on BPC 157 has primarily been conducted in animal models, where it has shown promise in promoting the healing of various tissues, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, and the gastrointestinal tract.

How It Works

The exact mechanisms by which BPC 157 works are still being investigated, but it is believed to promote healing through several pathways:

  • Angiogenesis: BPC 157 may stimulate the formation of new blood vessels, a process called angiogenesis. This is crucial for healing, as it improves blood flow and delivers oxygen and nutrients to injured tissues.
  • Activation of Growth Factors: It has been suggested that BPC 157 influences the activity of key growth factors, like vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which are vital for cell growth and tissue repair.
  • Anti-inflammatory Effects: The peptide is also thought to have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce swelling and pain associated with injuries.
  • Tissue Regeneration: It may enhance the activity of fibroblasts, cells that play a key role in forming new connective tissue. This can help speed up the repair of damaged tissues and minimize scarring.

  • Energy Production: NAD+ is a key player in cellular respiration, the process that converts food into energy (ATP). It accepts electrons during glycolysis and the citric acid cycle, becoming NADH. NADH then carries these electrons to the mitochondria's electron transport chain, where they are used to generate large amounts of ATP.
  • DNA Repair and Regulation: NAD+ acts as a substrate for enzymes like sirtuins and PARPs, which are involved in repairing damaged DNA and regulating gene expression. A decline in NAD+ levels can impair these processes, contributing to cellular aging and disease.
  • Cellular Signaling: The ratio of NAD+ to NADH acts as a metabolic sensor, helping the cell respond to changes in its environment and energy demands. This balance is critical for maintaining cellular homeostasis.

AD levels naturally decline with age, which is linked to a variety of age-related health issues and metabolic disorders. This decline is thought to be a key factor in the aging process.

To counteract this, HCG is often prescribed alongside TRT. It keeps the testes stimulated, maintaining sperm production and preventing them from shrinking.
  • To Induce Spermatogenesis (Sperm Production): For men with infertility due to low sperm count, HCG can be used to stimulate the testes and restore sperm production.

Sermorelin is a synthetic peptide that mimics a naturally occurring hormone called growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). Its primary function is to stimulate the pituitary gland to produce and release more of its own natural human growth hormone (hGH).

How it Works

Instead of directly injecting synthetic hGH into the body, Sermorelin works by encouraging the body's own system to produce more of the hormone. This is often considered a more natural and controlled approach because the body's own regulatory mechanisms are still in place. The release of hGH is episodic, meaning it occurs in bursts, and Sermorelin helps to restore this more youthful, natural pattern.

Medical Use

Sermorelin was originally developed to diagnose and treat growth hormone deficiency in children, where it was shown to increase growth rates. However, its use for this purpose has largely been replaced by other treatments.

It can provide benefits such as:

  • Increased lean muscle mass
  • Reduced body fat
  • Improved energy levels
  • Better sleep quality
  • Enhanced libido
  • Improved skin health and bone density

However, it's important to note that Sermorelin is no longer FDA-approved for this purpose, and the evidence supporting its use for anti-aging and performance enhancement in healthy adults is limited and controversial. The manufacturer stopped producing it in 2006, and it is now primarily available through compounding pharmacies that create individualized medications.

Side Effects and Risks

Sermorelin is generally considered to be well-tolerated with fewer side effects than direct hGH injections. However, potential side effects can include:

  • Injection site reactions: Pain, redness, or swelling.
  • Headaches and dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Flushing
  • Allergic reactions (rare)

Because Sermorelin stimulates the body's own hGH production, it is believed to carry a lower risk of overdosing compared to synthetic hGH.

Tesamorelin, sold under the brand names Egrifta SV and Egrifta WR, is a synthetic peptide that functions as a growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) analog. It is a prescription medication with a very specific, FDA-approved use.

How it Works

Tesamorelin's mechanism of action is to stimulate the pituitary gland to produce and release natural human growth hormone (hGH). It binds to GHRH receptors with high affinity, leading to a potent and sustained release of hGH into the bloodstream. This is a more targeted and potent effect than some other GHRH analogs, and it results in an increase in insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels.

The key result of this process is the breakdown of fat cells, particularly visceral fat.

FDA-Approved Use

Unlike other GHRH analogs that are often used "off-label," Tesamorelin has a specific, FDA-approved indication:

  • To reduce excess abdominal fat (lipodystrophy) in adults with HIV.

Lipodystrophy is a condition that can occur in people with HIV, characterized by changes in body fat distribution. It often results in the accumulation of dangerous visceral fat around the internal organs, which is linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Tesamorelin is specifically designed to target and reduce this type of fat.

Important limitations of use:

  • Tesamorelin is not a weight-loss drug and is not approved for general weight management. It has a weight-neutral effect, meaning it helps redistribute fat without causing overall weight loss.
  • It is also not indicated for use in children.

Administration and Side Effects

Tesamorelin is administered as a daily subcutaneous injection, typically into the abdomen.

Common side effects may include:

  • Injection site reactions: Redness, pain, itching, or swelling at the injection site.
  • Musculoskeletal pain: Joint pain (arthralgia) and muscle pain (myalgia).
  • Fluid retention: Swelling of the hands, feet, or ankles.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions: Allergic reactions can occur, though they are less common.

About The Restore Clinic, LLC

Semaglutide

Semaglutide is administered via subcutaneous injection once per week. Doses usually start at 0.25mg once weekly and is titrated up every 3-4 weeks as tolerated. The goal is to find the lowest necessary dose needed to help mitigate hunger and help with weight loss.

Scrotal cream

Our compounding pharmacies offer testosterone cream.  Many people refer to this as scrotal cream as well as trans-scrotal cream.  Applying it to the scrotum augments absorption as well as elicits better testosterone levels than applying it elsewhere.

Cream vs injections

Both testosterone cream and testosterone injections works great.  We believe they are equally effective.  What it comes down to is the patient's preference and patient compliance.
